Scoliosis

Scoliosis is a disorder that causes an abnormal curve of the spine, which can make the sufferer look distorted in appearance. In most cases the cause of scoliosis is unknown, but it is often seen in people suffering with cerebral palsy or spina bifida and is a consequence of these conditions. Its a hereditary condition that tends to run in families. Some of the symptoms may include:

  • difference in hip height or position
  • difference in shoulder blade height or position
  • difference in shoulder height
  • difference in the way the arms hang beside the body
  • head is not centred with the rest of the body
