Pseudoscience
Pseudoscience is something that appears to be scientific in
an attempt to claim legitimacy, but it either does not hold up under the
scrutiny of modern Western science, or it has not been subjected to scientific
scrutiny in any meaningful way.
That a therapy is pseudoscientific tends to be a derogatory
term used by those coming from a modern Western scientific background to
indicate that no evidence has been found to support claims of efficacy. At the same time, its important to remember that
the term can also be used when that evidence has not been looked for.
