Lymphatic system
The lymphatic system consists of organs, ducts and nodes.
Lymph nodes are found throughout the body, act as filters or traps for foreign
particles and contain white blood cells.
The lymphatic system transports a clear fluid called lymph.
Lymph means clear water and it is basically the fluid and protein that has been
squeezed out of the blood.
Lymph distributes immune cells and other factors throughout
the body. It also interacts with the blood circulatory system to drain fluid
from cells and tissues.
The lymphatic system contains immune cells called
lymphocytes, which protect the body against viruses and bacteria that invade
the body.
