Gastrointestinal
The digestive tract is the system of organs that takes in
food, digests it to extract energy and nutrients, and expels the remaining
waste.
There is an upper gastrointestinal tract and a lower
gastrointestinal tract that forms part of the system. The upper
gastrointestinal tract consists of the mouth, pharynx, oesophagus, and stomach.
The lower gastrointestinal tract comprises the intestines and anus.
