Eczema
Eczema is a dry skin condition that makes patches of your
skin become dry, red and itchy. It can
occur on just about any part of the body. However, in infants, eczema typically
occurs on the forehead, cheeks, forearms, legs, scalp, and neck.
Scratching can make the skin bleed, and can also make the
eczema worse. Sometimes the skin can become thick and scaly. It is a highly
individual condition, it varies from person-to-person and it comes in many
different forms. But it is not
contagious so you cannot catch it from someone else.
In mild cases of eczema, the skin is dry, scaly, red and
itchy. In more severe cases, there may be weeping, crusting and bleeding.
Constant scratching causes the skin to split and bleed and
also leaves it open to infection.
