Stiff muscles

Stiff muscles, or delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS), usually occurs up to 72 hours after exercising, and usually disappears within two to three days.

The actual cause of DOMS is not known. But some researchers believe that the aching is due to the muscle fibres breaking down during the exercise, particularly when weights are used, and then the consequent rebuilding of the muscle back up again.
